KCPC Membership – Frequently Asked Questions

▶ Membership & Renewals

Why did KCPC switch to a rolling membership model?

To allow new members to join any time and receive 12 full months of benefits. This reduces administrative peaks and improves member experience.

When do the new changes take effect?

All updates go into effect May 8, 2025.

What happens to my existing membership?

You’ll be transitioned based on your last renewal. For example, if you last paid in September, your membership would now run from September to the following August.

Will membership still expire on June 30 each year?

No. With the rolling membership model, your membership will expire 12 months from the 1st of the month you joined, regardless of the calendar year.

Will I be reminded to renew?

Yes. Members will receive an email reminder one month before their expiration date with a link to renew.

Can memberships be set to auto-renew each year?

Not at this time. While automatic renewal is not currently available, it’s something we’re exploring for the future to make renewals easier for members.

What happens if I forget to renew on time?

We’ll send you a reminder by email and may follow up with additional outreach to help you renew and stay connected to KCPC.

Can I gift a membership to someone else?

Yes. You may purchase membership on someone else’s behalf. Just be sure to provide their contact information when submitting the form or payment.

Can I switch from individual to family membership mid-year?

Yes. Contact the membership chair to upgrade. The amount will be prorated based on the time remaining in your term.

Can I switch from a family membership to individual membership?

Yes. You can switch during your renewal by selecting and paying for individual membership. Mid-year downgrades are not available.

▶ Event Pricing & Attendance

Do I have to RSVP if I plan to pay at the door?

Yes, RSVP is still encouraged. It helps us provide a more accurate headcount to the restaurant, even if you plan to pay at the door.

What if I show up without RSVPing?

You may still attend if space is available, but you will be charged the at-the-door rate, and seating is not guaranteed. RSVPing helps us prepare appropriately.

What if I RSVP but don’t pay by the deadline?

You will be charged the at-the-door rate unless payment is received by the RSVP deadline.

What if I mail a check?

Your check must arrive by the RSVP deadline (not just be postmarked) to qualify for the prepaid rate.

Can I transfer my prepaid attendance to someone else if I can’t attend?

Yes, provided the person qualifies for the same pricing tier. Please notify us in advance by emailing contact@konacrimeprevention.org or calling (808) 818-KCPC (5272).

Are refunds available instead of rollover credits?

No. We do not issue refunds for missed events, except in cases of KCPC-cancelled events. Prepaid credits are rolled over if notice is given before the deadline.

How will I know the RSVP deadline?

It will be included in each event invitation or announcement.

Can I prepay for multiple upcoming luncheons at once?

Yes. You may prepay for up to six Officer of the Month luncheons in advance. Email contact@konacrimeprevention.org and include the months you wish to attend. We’ll send you an invoice by email.

Can a business prepay for multiple employees?

Yes. Business/organization members may prepay for up to four employees at the member rate, provided payment is received before the deadline.

Will children be charged for events?

If no child-specific rate is offered, minors attending with a paying adult receive the member rate, regardless of the adult’s membership status. Minors are considered ages 11 and under unless stated otherwise.

▶ Recognition & Definitions

How are officers selected for Officer of the Month and Officer of the Year?

Do retired officers get discounted pricing?

What if I’m a retired officer but was never recognized as OOY or OOM?

You are welcome to join KCPC, but the lifetime discount is only available to those previously recognized.

A fund supporting the Officer of the Month and Officer of the Year programs, including awards, gifts, and event support.
